![]() Catholic Schools Week is the annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States. During the week, we focus on the value Catholic education provides to young people and its contributions to our church, our communities and our nation. We build community awareness of and involvement in Catholic schools throughout the country. And we honor those who contribute to the success of our schools—students, families, faculty and staff, volunteers, community supporters and local and national leaders. The theme for Catholic Schools Week 2015 is “Catholic Schools Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service.” Catholic schools are noted for their academic excellence and high moral standards. This year’s theme celebrates the constant attention Catholic educators pay to increasing the learning and growth in faith of all students. We invite all our school parents to join us for during the activities planned for Catholic School Week.

St. Columbkille School will hold its Fifth Annual Awards Dinner on May 16, 2015 to honor a community who has made a significant impact in the lives of our students. This year, we honor Loyola Marymount University, a community who has dedicated endless resources to support Catholic education from primary school to graduate school. LMU’s entities such as the School of Education, Service Organizations, Center for Catholic Education, and Campus Ministry, to name a few, have supported St. Columbkille in fulfilling its mission. We are pleased that the award bestowed each year honors the memory of Sr. Peg Dolan, RHSM, who was a founding board member at St. Columbkille and was dedicated to seeing the school thrive and succeed. Sr. Peg began and nurtured the partnership between St. Columbkille and Loyola Marymount University which has lasted and grown for over 15 years. Receiving the Sr. Peg Dolan award on behalf of LMU will be President David Burcham whose strong leadership and support of Catholic education has impacted many communities, schools, and children. For more information about this special event or to donate toward our fundraising goal of $100,000 please visit the school website: www.columbkille.org or contact Karla Briceno at kbriceno@columbkille.org. We hope to see you there! PLEASE SAVE THE DATE!

Five years ago, LMU said good-bye to one of the most beloved members of the community when she passed away: Peg Dolan, R.S.H.M, ’58, M.A. ’74. To exaggerate her contributions to individuals and the institution as a whole would be difficult: mentor, counselor, visionary, justice worker, friend, minister, advocate, role model, servant. Watch our video slideshow of a woman who changed lives.
