Your child’s academic success is one of our top priorities. We believe in setting high, yet achievable, expectations for our students so that they will be prepared for the real world. Teachers understand that children learn differently and provide varied learning experiences and forms of assessment in order to reach the varied learners. We also feel that students must learn how to be problems solvers, good communicators, and respectful people in order to succeed beyond St. Columbkille. For this reason, students have the opportunity to work in groups, create projects together, and organize and lead assemblies or Masses. We strongly believe in instilling a sense of responsibility through daily homework assignments, weekly quizzes or tests, and quarterly projects. We understand that a child’s success will happen through communication and collaboration with parents. We welcome parents to be active participants and communicate constantly with teachers via e-mails, phone calls, notes in daily planners, behavior cards, or individual conferences.
Title 1 Title 1 services are provided for students who need extra assistance in language arts and math.
Academic Support St. Columbkille provides academic support for all students in the St. Julie Learning Center. The library has a variety of multi-media resources available for students to use for schoolwork. Updated laptops and desktops with internet access aid student research and publication of assignments. After school homework assistance is provided by our Notre Dame Americorps Volunteers and librarian Mondays-Thursdays.
On-site Counseling Services On-site counseling is available to all students who may be struggling academically or simply need someone to talk to. At St. Columbkille we understand that a child’s emotional and spiritual development affects academics as well.
