Welcome St. Columbkille parents, students, and family!
This summer has been a busy one for St. Columbkille, and as you return will see the exciting changes and additions to our school, such as air-conditioning, a new bathroom for TK, Kinder, and Daycare, projectors and new white boards, flooring for the 6th grade/junior high science room and the office hallway and more. We are very grateful to the Shea Family Charities for making this all possible! In addition, we would like to thank our school board, Carrie Estelle Doheny Foundation, our generous donors, and all of you that supported our construction efforts.
We continue to push towards providing our students with a sound foundation in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics.) We received the C3 Ignite grant and each classroom will have 12 iPads with software that will allow us to provide essential student individualization. Teachers will receive technology training in August, both at Loyola Marymount University and on site. Over the summer, Ms. Martinez attended a week of robotics class from Project Lead the Way and thanks to the Catholic School Collaborative (CSC), she will be able to share some of the projects with our junior high. We also have been awarded further Next Generation Science training and science equipment from the CSC. We will continue to work with Dr. Anita Kreide on hands-on science using the new Next Generation standards. Thank you to the Specialty Family Foundation for helping provide these trainings and for helping us to continue with the CodeRev programing classes.
This year we will continue to grow in faith and live as the Gospel calls us to do. Pope Francis wrote it beautifully as he called us to “respond to the God of love who saves us, to see God in others and to go forth from ourselves to seek the good of others.”
We look forward to an exciting year of learning and adventure!
May God bless you and keep you in the palm of his hands always,
